Hello Mr. President!

Today was a good day to be an American.  Since Bill Clinton's first Inauguration in 1992 (I was 9 at the time) I never paid much attention to the inauguration of our president.  I certainly didn't care to watch that idiot Bush be swore in as President of the United States not once, but twice.  However, this time was different.  Though he was not my first choice for Democratic nominee, I fully supported him after Hillary Clinton left the race.  I was so proud to place my vote for him on Nov. 4th 2008, and I was ecstatic to watch him officially become president of the United States of America today.

It is something I will remember for the rest of my life.  I know it will be in history books, just like the assassination of JFK, and the civil rights movement of my parents generation.  It is such a proud moment for our nation.  We have come so far since the segregation in the 1950's and 1960's, and it is wonderful that this day falls just one day after the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday.  Some day I will be asked by my children as they are writing a history report, where I was the day Barack Obama was sworn in as our 44th president.

It is unfortunate that I cannot tell them I was there.  The support that man garnered from our country was truly amazing. I cannot wait to see what wonderful things he will do for our country in the days to come.
